University of Malta (L-Universita ta’ Malta) is one of the leading higher education institutions in Malta, with its main campus located in Msida, Malta. It offers Master of Science in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies – Business and Finance which provides an introduction to blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT). The underlying technology provides decentralization mechanisms and computational execution engines built on sound computer science and ICT principles. It also provides an interdisciplinary view of blockchain and DLT as well as specialization in the business area. Throughout the course duration, students will be equipped with knowledge and understanding of what blockchain and DLT are, the functionality and implementation details of blockchain and DLT, decentralized applications, and the state of art within the area of focus. Learners are expected to develop the ability to read, assess, contrast, and criticize academic literature, and be advanced in academic project methodology including design, implementation, and evaluation. By the end of the program, the students will be able to demonstrate the ability to critique and present applications of research, present in-depth descriptions of blockchain and DLT, and have hands-on experience with the emerging technology. Graduates from this program will showcase applied skills to work in the blockchain and DLT industry or pursue a Ph.D. in the area.

The admission requirements for the Master of Science in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies – Business and Finance at the University of Malta (UM) include possession of a Bachelor’s degree from UM with at least second-class honors or category II in the areas of business, economics, finance, law, management, IT, or in any other area which the board deems appropriate. It may also apply to applicants with third-class honors or category III that have at least five years of relevant work experience and obtained the first cycle degree. The admission of applicants may be made conditional on the results of an assessment. The requirements for international students include country-specific qualifications, English language requirements by presenting a Secure English Language Test (SELT) result, visa, and e-residence permit.

Both Local/EU/EEA applicants and Non-EU/Non-EEA applicants are required to pay a tuition fee amounting to €10,000. Applicants may pay in full or pay partially. Partial payments should be paid per semester. For full-time students with three semesters, payment is as follows: €3,750 (Sem 1), €3,750 (Sem 2), and €2,500 (Sem 3). For part-time students with six semesters, the tuition fee is at €1,875(Sem 1); €1,875 (Sem 2); €1,250 (Sem 3); €1,875 (Sem 4); €1,875 (Sem 5; and €1,250 (Sem 6).
