The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is one of the fastest-growing research universities in the world. The university offers Master of Science in Financial Technology (MScFinTech) which provides students with the fundamental knowledge and important skills in financial technologies, engineering, and financial principles in enhancing their market competitiveness in the FinTech industry. Learners will nurture their knowledge in new technologies, analytics, methodologies, finance, and business. Throughout the course duration, students from this program will gain exceptional knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence (AI) for FinTech, blockchain, corporate finance, data analysis, financial data mining, FinTech regulations and compliance, the foundation of FinTech, and investment analysis. In addition to the core and required courses, students are also required to take an elective course and extra-curricular activities to ensure exposure to comprehensive FinTech topics and new ideas with sufficient depth of knowledge in assessing Fintech developments. Graduates from this program can solve FinTech-related problems using practical means supported by quantitative techniques and engineering methodologies and can analyze the engineering mechanisms and financial principles of new and emerging financial technologies.
Candidates applying for the Master of Science in Financial Technology (MScFinTech) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) are required to submit the following entry requirements: a copy of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) test scores, complete application form, identity proof, copies of transcripts and degree qualification certificates from Bachelor’s degree from recognized institution, institution grading system details, academic references, letter of recommendation, visa, proof of scores of the tests to study in Hong Kong (international students), English-language test – TOEFL iBT minimum score of 80, PBT minimum score of 550 or IELTS Academic overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 5.5 or Duolingo English Test minimum score of 105, HKUST online application portal, and application fee amounting to HK$450.
Qualified students are required to pay the total program fee of HK$315,000. This will cover the tuition fee, selected textbooks, and course materials for some of the core courses. It does not include travel or living expenses. The university is granting scholarships and financial aid namely: Admission Scholarship, Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowship Scheme, and CEF Reimbursement to outstanding and eligible students with excellent academic performance as well as well-rounded backgrounds.
