It offers PhD Programme in UCL Computer Science in which learners work within research groups on the development of computer science, and are supervised by supervisors in the development of the research projects. Learners will focus on research areas including intelligent systems, machine learning, reasoning, information security, cryptology, cryptoanalysis, systems and networks, internet architecture, mobile networked systems, protocols, blockchain technology, financial computing and analytics, software systems engineering, programming principles, computer graphics, and bioinformatics. In the same way, they will acquire knowledge in computational statistics, mathematical modeling, automated tools for verification and program analysis, artificial intelligence, distributed systems, mobile computing, vision, and imaging science.

Throughout the program duration, students will participate in three vivas with a detailed report of work, a verbal exam with supervisors or external experts, regular meetings, and group meetings. Likewise, students will draft, write, complete, and submit a thesis project to complete the research status. In this way, students learn more about their field and advance their abilities and skills. Graduates will have a strong foundation for their careers in global IT consultancies, specialist companies, banks, and manufacturing industries by working with world-leading researchers in financial computing, network systems, virtual environment, and human-computer interaction, as well as showcase cutting-edge experience through internships and placements in different renowned companies and partner industries, and have further skills by maximizing the access in the research, computer and technology centers and laboratories. They will secure job positions such as information systems managers, IT consultants, systems analysts, applications developers, and multimedia programmers.

The entry requirements for the PhD Programme in UCL Computer Science at the University College London (UCL) are an online application, 2 supervisors, a UK master’s degree in a relevant discipline with merit, upper second-class UK bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, a student visa, and an English language proficiency IELTS academic overall score of 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each component or TOEFL iBT overall score of 92 with 24/30 in reading and writing, and 20/30 in speaking and listening.

The program has a full-time duration of 4 years and a part-time duration of 5 years. Full-time UK students are required to pay a tuition fee of £5,690 while £25,960 for full-time international students. Part-time UK students will be charged £2,845 and £13,280 for part-time international students. UCL offers a range of scholarships to cover the cost of qualified students’ fees.
