Likewise, students will have a thorough understanding of data structures, streaming algorithms, data-centric computing, social media analysis, tamper-evident systems, and secure distributed systems. Throughout the program, students will select a research adviser, complete the Ph.D. coursework, pass the core qualifying requirement and area qualifying requirement, take Ph.D. seminar courses, complete an apprenticeship in teaching workshop program, and propose, perform, and defend a significant research project in the form of a written dissertation. Doctoral graduates will showcase their expertise in research as well as their practical experience in various areas of computer science and are ready to start their technical careers in different industries or teaching careers in academia.

The admission requirements for the Computer Science Ph.D. Program at Georgetown University are an online application and a non-refundable application fee, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science or related field from accredited academic institutions, official transcripts from all educational institutions attended, a GPA of at least 3.0 in the undergraduate studies, a strong background and professional experience in computer science, a statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation, resume, and an English language proficiency IELTS minimum overall score of 7.0 or TOEFL minimum overall score of 90.

The doctoral program has a full-time duration equivalent to 5 years. Students are required to pay the tuition fee of $2,358 per credit hour and an additional thesis research fee of $2,750 per semester. Other fees such as activity fees, health insurance, materials and technology fees, and meal plans will be charged in addition to the tuition cost.
