It offers Master’s Degree Programme in Information and Communication Technology: Cryptography specialization track that provides advanced knowledge in mathematical cryptography and various areas of cybersecurity. The program delivers a comprehensive understanding of the aspects of cryptography, smart systems, data analytics, network security, software engineering, the internet of things, cloud security, and information security. Likewise, the theoretical lessons on mathematics are complemented by security management and networked systems.

Throughout the course’s duration, learners will have advanced-level studies in information technology and cryptography, take thematic modules, complete the elective coursework, and conduct a master of science in technology thesis focusing on blockchain in cryptography, public-key cryptosystems, quantum cryptography, and homomorphic encryption. In the same way, learners will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of cryptographic solutions based on the underlying theory, analyze the modern symmetric and asymmetric cryptography algorithms and protocols from a mathematical viewpoint, and apply the protocols and cryptographic algorithms in an actual setting. Graduates from this course will showcase a strong knowledge and experience in mathematical cryptography and cybersecurity, and benefit from the practical understanding and skills in information and communication technology, as well as acquire careers in the IT sector as information security specialists and experts.

The entry requirements for the Master’s Degree Programme in Information and Communication Technology: Cryptography at the University of Turku (UTU) are an online application, a nationally recognized bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, a degree that has at least 180 ECTS, a previous degree in a relevant field, English language proficiency IELTS academic overall score of 6.5 with 6.0 score in each component or TOEFL iBT overall score of 90 with 20 score in each component, a motivation letter, and relevant work experience.

The program has a full-time duration of 2 years with 120 ECTS. EU Citizens and EEA Countries including Switzerland will not be charged for their tuition fees while Non-EU and EEA Countries are required to pay a tuition fee of €12,000 per academic year. The university offers generous scholarships based on academic merits to support motivated students.
