It offers Bachelor of Science (Honours) Applied Computing (Internet of Things) that will develop a thorough understanding of how the software and hardware are transforming the world, how to program connected devices, and connecting things to create new products and services.

Students will also identify how to design, interface and operate mobile, cloud, and connected devices, as well as develop their ability to harvest and process information to communicate the results. Throughout the course duration, students will be equipped with cutting-edge skills and knowledge and will be comfortable when dealing with many kinds of devices and systems that connect the environment and the internet. Similarly, students will be familiarized with how the devices and systems can perform well, and how to build expertise with the fundamental analogue electronics, single-board computers, and single-board micro-controllers. In the same way, students will have practical involvement in which they will connect and incorporate their own devices, program diverse devices, embed sensors, single board computers, cloud systems, and mobile phones. Graduates from this course will showcase advanced skills in sharing and disseminating their work using industry standards and collaborative tools, and a broad range of experience to potential employers.

The entry requirements for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Applied Computing (Internet of Things) at the South East Technological University (SETU Waterford Campus) are a leaving certificate or higher certificate, English language competency IELTS minimum score of 6.0 with a 5.0 score in each component or TOEFL iBT minimum score of 80 with a 15 score in each component, an online application, application fee of €50, scanned copies of curriculum vitae, transcripts, passport, and national identity card.

The program has a full-time duration of 4 years with 240 ECTS. Students are required to pay the level 8 tuition fee amounting to €3,819. The university offers academic scholarships, sports scholarships, leaders’ scholarships, and bursaries to help its students lessen the cost.
